Is Lipinksi The youngest Olympic Gold Medalist?
Evan Lipinski has been called the “Older brother of the Olympic Gold Medalist” by USA Today’s Patrick O’Rourke. Lipinski is a two-time skating champion and he is currently tied for second with Russia’s Alexeyev, who is also an eight-time gold medalist. But unlike his older brother, Lipinski isn’t content to rest on his laurels. He wants to be the best, and he knows that it will take a lot of hard work and dedication to get there. As a result, he is devoting much of his summer to preparing for the Olympics. He has also put in the time to work on his skating as well.
One might think that it would be easy for a hockey player to win an Olympic gold medal, since they are always mentioned as being on top of their game. So what makes this story interesting? Well, if anything, it shows just how special the youngest person to win an Olympic gold medal is. Lipinski is only thirteen years old, but he is already making history.
As previously mentioned, Lipinski isn’t planning on stopping anytime soon. He has won the silver at the U.S.A. ice skating championships, which makes him the youngest Olympic figure skater ever. He is also the youngest person to win an Olympic gold medal for both figure skating and ice skating. Just to name a few, that is Vasili Oschepkov of Russia, Anton Khorneydin of Ukraine, Andrej Svanberg of Canada, Peter Bondos of the United States, Mark Appleyard of Canada, and Nikita Khrushchyan of Australia.
Lipinski was born in Moscow and is obsessed with the Russian World records. According to some people, he keeps a gold record from each season and tries to break each one. It is believed that he may have the youngest Olympic gold medalist record if he wins this year’s event in Russia. So far, he is second behind Dmitry Shufarov of Russia, who is also a young skater. Lipinksi is originally from Georgia, but now lives in Toronto, Canada. He has won three world titles and the world records are his favorites.
After winning the worlds, he set new world record after breaking the old record. If he wins the Olympics in 2021, it will be the fourth in a row for a champion, tying his brother Vasili Oschepkov for the most consecutive golds with six. The first day of the Olympics is already underway, so it would make sense for him to be practicing his jump and double somersaults to prepare himself for the giant leaps he hopes to make during the games. If he wins the gold, that would make him the youngest Olympic gold medalist, beating out Michael Jordan who is now the fourth oldest.
Even though Lipinksi is only 7 years old, he is already showing signs of dominance over the smaller competitors. He was first and second in the two events he started playing when the summer olympics started. He beat out younger competitors such as Vasili Oschepkov who was a close third. This shows that he has what it takes to win the gold medal during the summer Olympics in 2021.
