YouthCaN Hike the World! The Trees questions
The Miami YouthCan Team would like to add an international demension to our tree prioject by asking any hikers who would like to let us know some of the following information:

What kinds of trees did you see on your hike?
Were these old growth trees or young ones?
Were you in a protected area ? (a park or national forest?)
Was there evidence of logging in the area?
Was there one tree that stood out as being especially large or interesting?
Can you describe it or send a photo of this trees or type of tree?
What kinds of trees are dissappearng from your area?
What is this due to? (logging, disease, invasive species, replanting fast growing soft woods for old growth forests and hardwoods?)
Are there animals that are affected by loss of habitat due to deforestation in your area? What kinds?
What kind of woods are favored in your furniture industry and is this taking a toll on your forests?
Do some people in your country use wood for cooking fuel?

We would be interested in answers to any or all of these questions.
